Hi, thanks for taking the time to learn more about me and what I do. My name is Rosemarie Tursi. I've been working as an artist in a professional capacity for several years now. I was educated at Pasadena Art Center College of Design and California State University Fullerton. I hold a bachelors degree in Art with a double concentration in Animation and Illustration.

Past work includes working as a production assistant with Cartoon Network Studios, a prop, costume and set designer with several Inland Empire based independent production companies, and as an instructor of drawing and painting with Mission:Renaissance Fine Arts Studios.

Currently, I am illustrating children's books and showing in various Galleries in the Pomona Arts Colony and Riverside Arts community.

Although my formal training has been primarily in drawing, I also take a great interest in painting, ceramics, sculpture, crafts, glass lampworking, gourd and wood craft, photography, sewing and various mixed media projects incorporating all of the above.

I'm also a bit of a naturalist. I enjoy studying archeology, paleontology and zoology; not as a profession, but as a hobby and personal interest. Aspects of these interests often find their way into my art.

I grew up reading Marvel Comics, and Sci Fi. My favorites were Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer and Star Trek. I also have a deep love for Transformers. I attend Botcon and Comic Con every year.

Update on what I've been up to.

Fri Nov 20, 2009, 5:43 PM
Hi all,

Firstly... For those of you interested giving Rose some of your hard-earned cash:
I've just listed four items from my ' Professor Tursiart's ' series for sale on etsy. You know you want to give someone the gift of Ray Pistols for Xmas. :) Here is the link: [link]

If you are sitting at the edge of your seat, constantly hitting the refresh button in hope that I'll post some more ray pistols to my gallery... well I have good news for you. I've got one more totally completed, and two semi-completed pistols coming soon. I also have some goggles in the works. I just have to think up names and write descriptions for them (Writing technobabble in my ' Prof. Tursiart ' persona is almost as much work as creating those Ray pistols! :) )

I've got some other random doodads I can post to my gallery... just misc sketches and crafts and such. I'll be posting them here and there... Whenever I get around to it.

I've got a TON of stock photos I need to organize and upload. If someone can tell me the secret on how to post like.. 100 deviations at once, I'm all ears. The only reason I don't post these more often is because they take flippin' forever to upload for some inexplicable reason. My last batch literally took me all day, and I just don't have that kind of time.

Still doing that Art Jam every Wednesday (Dan, where were you this week? grrr.)

More pages from ' The Codex Tursiart ' series are partially completed, but I've put them on hold for the time being for two reasons:

1. They just aren't as popular as most of the other stuff I've been working on.
and
2. I have too many damn things on my plate.

Also, I still have that secret HUGE project that is taking up most of my time. Do to legal type reasons I can't really give you much info. Sorry!

Thanks for reading!
-Rose

Actually... your pictures are being used for one of my next pieces. Its terribly hard to find sword fighter stock on here so the one i fav'd will likely be my key reference.

I like your other work too, the illustrations are playful and you have a wonderful eye for color that supports that.

I noticed you have quite a resume including schooling in animation? Im saving up to go back to school myself and finish my associates in Animation. I'm also always interested in connecting with people already working professionally.
:icontursiart:
Ah, well in that case... I actually have a lot more photos from this joust tournament. I only uploaded a couple of my favorites, but I can send you more if you like.

Thanks for your comments. I did work in Animation for a little while, but I've kind of switched gears in the last couple of years. Do you have a specific school you're intereted in? I'd love to chat more - it's always great to talk with other artists in similar fields. :)

That would be great, I can always use more reference photos for medieval scenes. My email is darkelf1two3@gmail.com

Well, I had 3 semesters at Delaware College of Art and Design, and have been thinking of going back to finish my associates (possibly switching to fine arts or illustration). I'm generally getting back into art after a couple year hiatus. One of the things that has been holding me back is the real world application of the degree; especially since most companies these days outsource a good chunk of their jobs to other countries. It makes working a day job, and honing my skills in my free time that much more sensible. There is also the fact that all the work is on the west coast anyways.
:icontursiart:
You'd be surprised. Not as much is outsourced as you seem to think, though its true most of the jobs are here on the West Coast. (Also, the best schools for animation are here also.)
Let me see if I can figure out how to email you a bunch of photos at once... though I think it might be easier to just upload them all here at my next update, so that everyone else who wants can use them too. :)
