American Lion skeletal study 2

Description

More stuff I sketched at the La Brea Tar Pits. Close up of front right claw, and a nice profile view. Same specimen, different sketches.

The American Lion was remarkably similar to the modern African Lion, though considerably larger in size. It went extinct about 10,000 years ago towards the end of the Pleistocene ice age. Over 100 specimens have been found at the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles.

Other sketches from The La Brea Tar Pits Page Museum:

Update: These are my personal sketchbook pages. They are not resources or tutorials, though you are welcome to use them as visual reference. I'm only stating this because the majority of faves are to collections entitled, 'tutorials', 'stock' or something similar. I think that's kind of weird and it gives me the impression you're just copying my drawings.

By the way, I also took photographs of these skeletons. You are welcome to download and do whatever you want with the photos. They are located in my free stock folder, here:

As one such person adding these drawings to a "reference" folder, I think it's more along the lines of you having provided a detailed drawing that is readily available, and is easier to use than say, a photograph would be.
