Gliese Steampunk Goggles

This is a prototype set of goggles created by Professor Tursiart made primarily for use on Gliese 581g. Because it is tidally locked to it's parent star, only a small portion of the planet maintains temperatures capable of sustaining human life. Multiple colonies have been recently established within this habitable zone. Although the atmosphere is breathable, light scattering particles in the air make it difficult to see anything outside of the red spectrum without the use of special optic wear such as these goggles.

This set has been outfitted with an eyeloop for particular use in the New West Virginia Colony, located closest to the darker edge of the terminator where visibility is poorest. Professor Tursiart visited the colony to investigate a series of attacks on colonists (most of which proved to be fatal) by an large indigenous predator known colloquially as the ' Crimson Abbagoochie'. It is believed most of the attacks could have been prevented had the colonists been better equipped to both detect and combat the fearsome beast. This is just the first of several new innovative technologies developed by the good professor for the benefit of the colonists.

Not much is currently known about the Crimson Abbagoochie. It is believed to only inhabit colder dark regions. It has been described as "bear-like" with thick red spotted fur and may stand up to four meters high at the shoulder. It has only been sighted in the outskirts of the New West Virginia Colony. No other colonies on Gliese have reported sightings. Professor Tursiart is currently on a mission to obtain a specimen for research.
