The Orange Tree of Love

This Sketch is based upon a song/poem of my own by the same name.

The Orange Tree of Love

So as I sit here eating edibles
at this joyous Greek food fest.
I watch the dancers on stage dancing,
they're mediocre at best.
Its about a million degrees out
and I'm surprised they've not dropped dead.
As I munch on this tasty gyro
they finish and walk off stage instead.

And now a guy with a guitar
has come on out to take their place.
And I quickly come to realize
that he's certainly no ace.
His lyrics bland and boring
and he repeats the same two chords.
I'm no psychic but I'll soothsay
that he'll never win awards.

But I'll give the guy some credit
as he plays with no stage fright.
despite the fact his music
is complete and utter shite.
What did he call this next song?
Did I mishear? A mondegreen?
"The Orange Tree of Love"?
Surely not anything so keen.

The Spanikopita could be better.
It's overpriced but tasty.
Baklavas' nothin' special,
I s'ppose its decent for a pastry.
But I'm still so glad I came,
because I've truly been inspired
by this crappy talentless hack
who leaves so much to be desired.

Yes I now have the idea
to write a song about a journey,
Not through mountains steep and tall,
or waters dark and churney.
No, mostly its a trek,
between two very simple chords.
To the orange tree of love, yes that's what I travel towards.
